Jerome, the owner of the ‘Spirit of Kinsale’ was a fisherman for 28 years; he was born and grew up on the Old Head of Kinsale. He had made the decision to retire from fishing and was looking for a business that would work well with his experience and his interests.

He studied full time Heritage Management at Coláiste Stiofán Naofa, Cork. An opportunity arose for him to take over ‘The Spirit of Kinsale’, this was an ideal opportunity to combine his maritime experience and his passion for heritage, culture and wildlife.

He recently graduated in Arts at University College Cork taking Archaeology and Celtic Civilisations and is pursuing a Masters Degree at present.

He took over ‘The Spirit of Kinsale’ in May 2005, it is a seasonal business and during the winter of 2005, he refurbished the boat completely to make it more suitable for groups and increase the overall experience of the cruise trip
